How to Deal with Chat Spam on Zazzle: A Comprehensive Guide for Creators

Zazzle provides a dynamic platform for creative individuals to showcase and sell their unique designs. Our chat feature is a powerful tool designed to foster community and encourage collaboration between Users and Creators.

To ensure this space remains safe, secure, and productive for everyone, vigilance is essential. Like any popular online platform, Zazzle is not immune to spammers and scammers.

This guide provides fast, practical steps for all Zazzle Users to easily recognize, manage, and ultimately avoid suspicious messages and phishing attempts.

Identifying Genuine Zazzle Employees, Customers & Communication

Be highly skeptical of anyone asking for personal or sensitive information.

    • Official Contact: Zazzle's primary method for communicating important information is through email.
    • Chat Identification: A genuine Zazzle Employee will have a specific employee badge along with a user label in the chat.

Here are the three types of Users you will find in Zazzle Chat and how to identify them.

    • Zazzle Employee.

This label is assigned to verified, current Zazzle employees to ensure trust and clarity and have 3 key identifying areas

    • Crucial Security Rule: We will NEVER ask for your password, payment information, or other sensitive personal details via chat or an unsolicited email.

    Independent Creator.

A Zazzle Independent Creator is an artist or designer who uses the platform's marketplace to sell their unique work. The key to this status is having designs published on Zazzle. They can assist you with customization design work only.

    Zazzle User

The Zazzle User (General Customer/Buyer Profile) is the typical Zazzle shopper, primarily visiting the marketplace to browse, purchase, or customize existing products.

    Key Signs of Chat Spam

Look for these red flags in messages, especially unsolicited ones:

    • Urgency: The email pressures you to act immediately (e.g., “Your account will be suspended in 24 hours!”; “We need verification…”).
    • Unsolicited & Irrelevant: Messages from unknown users that promote external websites, products, or services unrelated to your activity on Zazzle.
    • Poor Language: Obvious poor grammar, spelling errors, or awkward phrasing.

Handle Suspicious Chat Messages: Action Steps

If you suspect a chat message is spam, take immediate action:

    1. DO NOT Click Links: Avoid clicking any links in suspicious chats.
      • Warning: If you click a non-Zazzle link in the chat feature, a pop-up warning will appear. This is a strong sign to be skeptical.

    2. Keep Info Private: Refrain from sharing any personal contact information (like email or phone) with unknown users.
    3. Report & Block: Use the Zazzle feature to promptly report the user and block the sender to prevent further contact.

    4. Protect Yourself from Email Spam/ Phishing

Scammers often use fake emails to steal your information.

Phishing Sign Description What to Do
Urgent/Threatening Tone The email pressures you to act immediately (e.g., "Your account will be suspended in 24 hours!"). Ignore the threat. Legitimate companies provide time to respond. Report & Block the sender.
Suspicious Sender Address The email comes from an address that looks similar but not exactly like example@zazzle.com. Do not reply. Forward the suspicious email to Zazzle Support.Report & Block the sender.
Link/Attachment Request The email asks you to click a link to "verify" your password or download an unexpected attachment. Do not click. Go directly to the Zazzle website in a new browser window to log in. Report & Block the sender.

    5. Always Verify the Website

Before entering any sensitive information (like logging in), always confirm you are on the legitimate Zazzle platform.

    • Check the URL: The address in your browser must start with https://www.zazzle.com/ (or your correct regional domain).
    • Look for Security: Check for the padlock icon in the address bar, indicating a secure, encrypted connection.
